    learning to move

Sally Leabhart's Pilates training:

Sally Leabhart first studied Pilates in Los Angeles in the 1980s. In 2002, while in Paris for the year, she discovered the work of The Pilates Center (Boulder, CO), through the teaching of several of their graduates. This surprising and enjoyable encounter proved a defining moment that would require thinking about movement in a different way and therefore, in practice, unlearning and relearning. After a year of intensive study in Paris and another year and a half with Amy Lange in Encinitas, California, Sally qualified to enter The Pilates Center 's year-long teacher training program in Boulder, graduating in 2006 . In 2011, she completed their Masters Program. In addition to ongoing continuing education workshops at The Pilates Center, she has attended workshops with Cara Reeser and Irene Dowd. She continues private study each week in Encinitas with Amy Lange, a graduate and former faculty member of The Pilates Center.

Pre-Pilates background:

Sally, who graduated from Rutgers University, holds a Ph.D. in French literature from the University of Southern California and taught for 20 years in the Department of Romance Languages at Pomona College.

In subsequent years, she studied with Lance Westergard, Glenn White and Stanley Holden. She has taught in the Dance Departments at Ohio State University, at Scripps College and at Pomona College.
